How it works

The five steps to set Brickify up on iPhone or Android, and how it's built.

Setting it up

1

Choose a passcode

Set a 4-digit PIN you'll remember but won't enter on impulse.

2

Set a second factor

Parent PIN, authenticator app, or email code. Both factors are required to unbrick — losing one doesn't lock you out forever.

3

Save your recovery codes

Three one-time backup codes are generated. Write them down. If you ever lose your PIN and second factor, one of these codes will get you back in.

4

Choose which apps to block, and set up the blocking schedules too

Pick exactly which apps are disabled when bricked. Everything else stays accessible.

5

Tap BRICK

Your chosen apps are blocked at the OS level. To unblock them, you need both your PIN and your second factor.

How Brickify is built

Five layers, starting with the phone itself. Swipe or use the arrows to go up through them.

The device

A phone you already own.

AndroidAndroid 8.0 or newer
iPhoneiPhone 8 / X or newer (iOS 16+)
Layer 2 of 5

Connection

Calls, texts and data come through the SIM and internet as usual. You can brick the internet browser.

SIM Internet

You can choose not to use a SIM or eSIM, to have a Wi-Fi only device like a landline.

Layer 3 of 5

OS protection

The phone's own system-level controls do the blocking, which is what makes Brickify hard to get round. Brickify makes them simple to set up.

Extra hardening

Brickify makes the extra protection easy to set up, and emails parents about certain risky actions, like a new app being installed or protection being removed.
